The influence of a communicative situation on the construction of dialogues in the 18th century Polish-German trade phrase book by Georg Schlag
The article can be situated in the area of research on situation-based aspects and conditions of statements and refers to the influence of a communicative situation on the construction of dialogues in the 18th century course book for teaching Polish. As a result of the analysis, places where people talk, the situation-based context and discussed topics as well as social language roles played by participants in those dialogues – they are all factors directly influencing a formal structure of those dialogues and statements. As far as this formal structure of trade-related conversations in the mentioned course book is concerned one can distinguish their three basic phases together with related language strategies: conversation opening commencement, selling offering goods and price negotiations and conversation closing closure.
